The Department of Accountancy – University of Malta – in collaboration with Malta University Consulting Ltd is holding its fifth CPE seminar for 2012, which qualifies for 2 hours (core competency) of structured Continued Professional Education. The seminar will discuss the powers of the Commissioner of Revenue and the judicial review of such powers.

Public Speaking: Enjoying People’s Number One Fear! (Oct-Nov 2012)

A course entitled Public Speaking: Enjoying People’s Number One Fear! is scheduled to be held from Monday 1^st October to Monday 19^th November 2012 at the University Residence, R. Mifsud Bonnici Street, Lija. This workshop focuses on effective public speaking, particularly dealing with the fear of speaking. It shows participants that public speaking is fun and easy. The course provides practice in both impromptu and prepared speeches and also addresses the important issue to “wake ‘em up!” during presentations! By the end of the course participants should be on their way to becoming successful public speakers.

Introduction to Climate Change Science and Policy – June 2012

Islands and Small States, University of Malta, in collaboration with Malta University Holding Company Ltd is organising a short course entitled Introduction to Climate Change Science and Policy. This course is scheduled to be held on the evenings of Thursday 21^st and Monday 25^thJune 2012 from 17:00 to 20:00 hours at the University Residence, R. Mifsud Bonnici Street, Lija. The programme, spread over two days, will give participants a broad introduction to issues relating to climate change science and policy. This short course is aimed at the general public, students and civil servants working directly or indirectly on climate change related issues. A certificate of attendance will be awarded to participants at the completion of the course.

Expolingua at Berlin

MULS’s participation in the German language fair Expolingua, held in the capital Berlin, went extremely well. The fair was well organized, down to the smallest detail, the exhibitors were friendly and pleasant all round, and the visitors welcoming to the sole representatives from Malta. Indeed, our school was exposed to thousands, with many people stopping to enquire about our school, our courses, the University of Malta, and also about Malta itself.

A warm thanks goes to all of those who booked courses with us, the teens for next summer’s supervised programmme, the business people who will refine their English for business purposes, the mature people who will combine a lengthy holiday with English learning, the youths who will follow our exam preparation course, and the many others who opted for our General English course. Heartfelt thanks also go to our friendly neighbours at the fair who livened our days with their jokes and cheery ‘Good mornings’. Thanks Expolingua for making it all possible.

Following the numerous requests and applications we are still receiving for Maltese lessons for beginners, MULS has decided to open another two Maltese courses in January. One will be a course for beginners, while the other will be a course for people who already have some knowledge in Maltese and wish to improve in a more systematic way.
